How to Become a Member of the Guild

33rd Season Auditions

Auditions are taking place now for the Guild's 33rd season.  We have openings in the Tenor and Bass sections of the chorus, so don't hesitate to call us. You can schedule your audition by calling the Guild Hotline at 678-318-1362. Our audition coordinator will contact you about setting up a time.  Auditions will take place at the Embry Hills United Methodist Church, our rehearsal home, August 2,3 and 9, 10.  The church is located in Tucker at 3304 Henderson Mill Road near its intersection with Chamblee-Tucker Road.  (Directions)

Audition Format

The Music Director conducts the audition and decides the size of each section. It will be helpful to prepare a song or hymn in advance that is representative of your vocal range to assist us in placing you in the correct section. Persons who successfully complete the audition, but for whom there is no place, may be put on a waiting list should a position open later in the season. Members of the Chamber Singers are active members of the full chorus, selected after further auditions, and must commit to the extra rehearsal time for their additional concert schedule.

Rehearsals

The full chorus rehearses every Monday evening from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM, beginning August 30.  The season will extend until May 2010 with a short break during the Christmas holiday season. Members are expected to not only attend rehearsals, but to prepare music at home between rehearsals to help the group keep its concert schedule.  The Chamber Singers rehearse separately from the Guild at a time to be announced.

Dues

The Guild is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. Membership dues help defray the cost of procuring music and concert venues and retaining professional staff. Membership dues are $150 per year due in one or two installments. This fee is a non-refundable donation to the Guild, is 100% tax-deductible and qualifies for corporate matching plans. Membership will never be denied because of inability to pay dues, however. The Guild can set up confidential alternative payment plans, scholarships, or an exchange of in-kind services if requested.
